Chickpea Flour

Cicer arietinum

Bikaner, Rajasthan

Stone-ground whole chickpea flour provides a protein-rich exfoliation matrix with a particle size ideal for facial use. Saponin compounds in the flour produce a mild cleansing action on activation with water or milk, while the zinc and folate content contributes to the formulation's skin repair and sebum-regulating properties.

Wild Turmeric

Curcuma aromatica

Erode, Tamil Nadu

Kasturi Manjal provides the ubtan's primary brightening mechanism without the staining or photosensitivity concerns of culinary Curcuma longa. At the concentration present in this blend, ar-turmerone acts on tyrosinase without systemic absorption — making it suitable for daily use on all skin tones including deep skin that is sensitive to over-depigmentation.

Dried Rose Petals

Rosa damascena

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh

Micro-milled dried Damask rose petals soften the mechanical exfoliation profile of the chickpea base, adding gallic acid and quercetin in a slow-release matrix that becomes bioavailable as the paste hydrates. They also modulate the formulation's overall pH toward the 4.5–5.5 range ideal for epidermal enzyme activity.

Application Ritual

Three Steps to Optimal Results

Mix Your Medium

Combine 1–2 teaspoons of powder with rose water, raw milk, or honey water to form a smooth paste. Raw milk adds lactic acid; honey adds enzymatic AHA activity; rose water keeps it purely botanical.

Apply and Dwell

Apply to clean, damp face or body. For bridal or intensive use, apply a thicker layer (5 mm) and leave for 15–20 minutes. For a daily ritual, a thin layer for 5 minutes is sufficient.

Rinse with Cold Water

Rinse by gently rolling the dried paste off the skin in short motions — this provides a secondary mechanical exfoliation pass. Rinse clean with cold water and follow with a toner or mist.
